Located in Missouri among the foothills of the Ozark Mountains, Carollo Farm is a fourth generation family owned and operated farm. What used to be a large-scale poultry farm in the early 1900s is now a small-scale hobby farm that includes several varieties of livestock.
At any given time it was common for the Carollo Turkey Farm fields to contain more than thirty-thousand turkeys. Poults hatched and raised at Carollo Turkey Farm were slaughtered at an on-site U.S.D.A. inspected processing plant. It was a regular affair for families to visit the farm to pick out their Thanksgiving day turkey.
In the late 1970s Carollo Turkey Farm was forced to close and the property was sold to cover debt contributed to the general operation of the farm. The original property is now part of a rural housing development known as "Turkey Trot Acres". In 2004 Carollo Farm began operating on an adjacent property.
A priority interest of Carollo Farm is vested in American Livestock Breed Conservancy. The long-term survivability of many of the livestock breeds raised at Carollo Farm are in grave danger. Our goal is to ensure the future of these breeds though careful breeding practices, record keeping, and by promoting awareness.
